Ruin of Michalovice Castle

Michalovice Castle was founded in the second half of the 13th century. The first recorded owner was Jan from Michalovice. The noble family of Michalovice possessed the castle until 1468, when its last male successor died.

The robust cylindrical tower is the reason why the castle is often called Michalovická Putna (i.e. the tub of Michalovice). By shooting off the rock during the railway construction in the 19th century the tower has leaned.

The bronze plaque dedicated to Karel Hynek Mácha was installed at the castle to celebrate the centennial anniversary of his visit.

The ruin is located about 3 km to the northwest from the centre of Mladá Boleslav.
