The Mníšek pod Brdy Chateau, the history of which started in the 13th century, got its current look in the middle of the 17th century thanks to the Prague burgher Servác Engel of Engelsfluss. The interiors designed by the last owners, the House of Kast of Ebelsberg, give a vivid picture of the atmosphere of a later era – the times of the First Republic.
There used to be a medieval castle where the ornate chateau is standing today. After the chateau was plundered by the Swedish troops in the 17th century, it went under extensive reconstruction. Another distinct structural modification was done after 1909 and it is the style of that era, from the first half of the 20th century, that is gradually restored both in the chateau and the scenic chateau park during modern reconstructions. Small children will also not get bored there, as they can enjoy special tours with fairy-tale themes
