The small, ancient village is located 9 km south-east of Mnichovo Hradiště. The trenches and ramparts of the original fortress are still visible on the hill opposite the Church.

Since the late 14th century when Solec was founded, the Gothic Church of the Assumption has been the main feature of the village. Valuable artefacts of the Church mainly include the Gothic presbytery (arched with a cross vault and fitted with sediles) and the richly profiled  17th-century portal in the south wall. Recent reconstruction has revealed fragments of the Renaissance sgraffito facades
